West Park Linear Woodland

Tree Planting in Derbyshire at West Park Linear Woodland

West Park Linear Woodland is a new woodland created on recreation field borders to create a natural link to the neighbouring West Park Meadows Nature Reserve.

IMPORTANT VISITOR INFOTake only photos. Leave only footsteps.

To keep the woodland as natural as possible we don’t label individual trees and we ask that visitors do not place their own plaques, labels, flowers, etc in the woodland. Each tree we plant should be seen as part of a natural woodland.

Before visiting this woodland, please read our Frequently Asked Questions page, which gives you helpful tips about your tree and visitor guidance.

West Park Linear Woodland will provide a shaded area that both school students, and local people using the area for recreation, can enjoy. The trees also provide a valuable habitat and food source for wildlife.

West Park Meadows Nature Reserve hosts a wide range of wildlife, including yellowhammer, skylarks, blue tits, robins and wrens. There are also butterflies, dragonflies, squirrels and frogs, all supported by tree species such ash, sycamore, oak, hawthorn, elder, red campion and many more.

The new linear woodland will create an avenue for wildlife from the nature reserve and act as a habitat extension.
