Tree Planting in Warwickshire at Stychall Common
Stychall Common is 42 acres of urban woodland and parkland, including War Memorial Park, on the outskirts of Coventry.
IMPORTANT VISITOR INFO – Take only photos. Leave only footsteps.
To keep the woodland as natural as possible we don’t label individual trees and we ask that visitors do not place their own plaques, labels, flowers, etc in the woodland. Each tree we plant should be seen as part of a natural woodland.
Before visiting this woodland, please read our Frequently Asked Questions page, which gives you helpful tips about your tree and visitor guidance.
Coventry council purchased Stychall Common in 1929 from the Gregory-hood family and the local community group SENA (South Earlsdon Neighbour Assosiation) work with the council to voluntary manage the woodland.
The woodland has some beech and very old oak trees much of the woods were overgrown and had not been managed since the 1990s. As a community group SENA cleared rubbish, created paths, made bridges and defined swales.
They created more open areas for activities and have two forest schools. They encourage local schools to visit, make dens etc.
