Selston Recreation Ground

Tree Planting in Nottinghamshire at Selston Recreation Ground

Selston Recreation Ground is a new woodland, created on the recreation field's borders, to improve biodiversity and reduce water run-off in the area.

IMPORTANT VISITOR INFOTake only photos. Leave only footsteps.

To keep the woodland as natural as possible we don’t label individual trees and we ask that visitors do not place their own plaques, labels, flowers, etc in the woodland. Each tree we plant should be seen as part of a natural woodland.

Before visiting this woodland, please read our Frequently Asked Questions page, which gives you helpful tips about your tree and visitor guidance.

Selston Recreation Ground is a 3 acre, grassed recreation ground in the village of Selston, lying to the south west of Mansfield.

The field is thickly hedged on one side by silver birch, hawthorn, blackthorn, oak and sycamore trees. The field slopes down to a car park at the bottom and there has been an issue with water running off.

Working with the Notts Tree Planters team, three small copses are being planted around the field.

The trees will help reduce the water run-off, provide a valuable habitat and food source for wildlife, as well as improving the biodiversity of the area.
