One Acre Wood is being planted to create a tree and shrub-rich sanctuary for the benefit of wildlife.

We’ve planted so many trees here that there isn’t any space to plant more.

To keep the woodland as natural as possible we don’t label individual trees and we ask that visitors do not place their own plaques, labels, flowers, etc in the woodland. Each tree we plant should be seen as part of a natural woodland.

One Acre Wood is part of an ex-dairy and has until recently been grazed by a local farmer's cattle.

The aspiration is to create a tree and shrub-rich sanctuary for the benefit of wildlife and to use as a Forest School for local schoolchildren.

Current wildlife in a nearby woodland and the field include brown hare, barn owl, kestrel and several species of bat. There is also a local roe deer population.

The woodland is maintained by the landowners with help from the local school to plant trees and undertake maintenance tasks to help the trees establish.

The new trees will help improve its biodiversity and provide shelter for wildlife.

Tree Species at One Acre Wood

Since 2021 EFORESTS has worked with the land owners and local volunteers to plant 390 new native tree species.
