Tree Planting in North Wales at Home Grown Happiness Market Garden
Home Grown Happiness Market Garden has set up a market garden and community green social prescribing project in Treuddyn, Flintshire.
IMPORTANT VISITOR INFO – Take only photos. Leave only footsteps.
To keep the woodland as natural as possible we don’t label individual trees and we ask that visitors do not place their own plaques, labels, flowers, etc in the woodland. Each tree we plant should be seen as part of a natural woodland.
Before visiting this woodland, please read our Frequently Asked Questions page, which gives you helpful tips about your tree and visitor guidance.
* THIS WOODLAND IS Temporarily Full *
We’ve planted so many trees here that there isn’t any space to plant more.
We hope to be able to plant here again in future years.
For the nearest alternative woodlands take a look at the Woodlands Locations Map.
This is a private woodland and can be visited by appointment only. Please email homegrownhappinessuk@gmail.com to make an appointment.
The land is just over 2 acres and they have planted 3/4 acre with trees (in order to leave space for the market garden and livestock).
There are a number of wonderful mature trees surrounding the site including a mature oak and a number of mature Yew trees.
The new trees will help improve the biodiversity of the area as well as providing a food source and shelter for wildlife.
Some of the trees, such as Hazel and Willow, will be planted as coppice so that sticks from them can be regularly harvested. This is typically done on a 5 year cycle and helps prolong the life of the trees, while still harvesting some wood that can be used for woodcraft (basket weaving, natural fence panels, etc).
