Tree Planting in Shropshire at Hinstock Wood
Hinstock Wood is a community woodland in the village of Hinstock, Shropshire.
IMPORTANT VISITOR INFO – Take only photos. Leave only footsteps.
To keep the woodland as natural as possible we don’t label individual trees and we ask that visitors do not place their own plaques, labels, flowers, etc in the woodland. Each tree we plant should be seen as part of a natural woodland.
Before visiting this woodland, please read our Frequently Asked Questions page, which gives you helpful tips about your tree and visitor guidance.
Hinstock Wood is a 1.5 acre site situated just off the centre of Hinstock village.
The land, which was originally grazing land for sheep, was kindly donated for the sole use of a woodland by a Hinstock resident.
The larger tree saplings on the site were planted in 2020 by a dedicated group of local residents called Hinstock Village Initiative.
There is a right of way footpath, accessed via a gate in School Fields, that leads to a stile where you can enter the woodland.
There is a large pool on the site, as well as a picnic area with seating, to enable visitors to enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
The local group are currently opening up a pathway, so that visitors can further explore the more mature trees, which were already growing there. The Village Initiative also have plans to create wild flower areas to attract bees and help with pollination.
The additional trees supplied by EFORESTS in 2023 / 2024 were planted throughout the woodland, further helping to improve the biodiversity of the area, as well as providing additional shelter and food sources for wildlife.
