Tree Planting in Lancashire at Duke’s Drive

Duke's Drive, on the outskirts of Salford is an easily accessible park and mixed woodland with a range of tree species and shrubs.

IMPORTANT VISITOR INFOTake only photos. Leave only footsteps.

To keep the woodland as natural as possible we don’t label individual trees and we ask that visitors do not place their own plaques, labels, flowers, etc in the woodland. Each tree we plant should be seen as part of a natural woodland.

Before visiting this woodland, please read our Frequently Asked Questions page, which gives you helpful tips about your tree and visitor guidance.

Duke's Drive park and woodland is popular with families, dog walkers, joggers and cyclists.

Nestled between the Bridgewater Canal and the golf course, the park covers an area of approximately 22 acres and is a mixture of open parkland and small wooded areas.

A small brook snakes through the park, leading into a pond, surrounded by shrubs and small trees.

The park is maintained by the Salford Ranger team (part of Salford Council).

We worked with Salford Ranger team and local volunteers to plant hundreds of native tree species here that will improve the area's biodiversity and create food sources and habitats for local wildlife.

Several non-native species, such as Red Alder and Red Oak were also planted around the park.

The bulk of the trees are planted in centre of the park, in an area signposted as Mother's Wood.
