Costons Lane Nature Reserve
Tree Planting in Greater London at Costons Lane Nature Reserve
Costons Lane Nature Reserve is developing a community nature reserve on an abandoned allotment site in Ealing.
* THIS WOODLAND IS Temporarily Full *
We’ve planted so many trees here that there isn’t any space to plant more.
We hope to be able to plant here again in future years.
For the nearest alternative woodlands take a look at the Woodlands Locations Map.
IMPORTANT VISITOR INFO – Take only photos. Leave only footsteps.
To keep the woodland as natural as possible we don’t label individual trees and we ask that visitors do not place their own plaques, labels, flowers, etc in the woodland. Each tree we plant should be seen as part of a natural woodland.
Before visiting this woodland, please read our Frequently Asked Questions page, which gives you helpful tips about your tree and visitor guidance.
Already rewilded for the past 10-15 years, but dominated by bramble, local volunteers from Ealing Wildlife Group are helping to increase tree diversity on site and introduce more layers - particularly the canopy layer.
They are also extending a new native hedgerow along one side of the site.
Ealing Wildlife Group host twice monthly volunteer task days teaching locals about conservation and nature.
Their aim is to create a valued community nature reserve which will protect this vital urban green space from development in future. The reserve is Council owned but Ealing Wildlife Group have entered a management agreement to develop the project.
The newly planted trees improve biodiversity, create wildlife corridors and provide a valuable habitat and food source for wildlife.
