Burnehyll Community Woodland
Tree Planting in Oxfordshire at Burnehyll Community Woodland
Burnehyll Community Woodland is a new community woodland on former farmland on the outskirts of Bicester.
IMPORTANT VISITOR INFO – Take only photos. Leave only footsteps.
To keep the woodland as natural as possible we don’t label individual trees and we ask that visitors do not place their own plaques, labels, flowers, etc in the woodland. Each tree we plant should be seen as part of a natural woodland.
Before visiting this woodland, please read our Frequently Asked Questions page, which gives you helpful tips about your tree and visitor guidance.
The total area of Burnehyll Community Woodland is approximately 44.6 hectares, which is made up of 7 fields. 4 of these fields have been arable dating back as far as 1753.
The new, community woodland will be a vital and unique contribution to the area.
A wide variety of native, British trees and a mix of hedgerow species have been planted throughout the area.
This will create new wildlife habitats and corridors as well as providing food and nectar sources for birds and other animals.
There are four access points from Vendee Drive, two of which are Public Right of Way Footpaths (PoRWs).
BY FOOT ONLY: From Chesterton using the opposite ends of these two Public Right of Way Footpaths.
BY CAR: The only parking is in the "Park and Ride" off the A41. Visitors then walk along Vendee Drive to the public footpaths, from which there is open access into the woodland area along designated paths.
