Tree Planting in Hampshire at Brownwich Farm

Brownwich Farm in Meon, to the west of Portsmouth, is creating a new wildlife habitat aimed at helping its dormice population.

IMPORTANT VISITOR INFOTake only photos. Leave only footsteps.

To keep the woodland as natural as possible we don’t label individual trees and we ask that visitors do not place their own plaques, labels, flowers, etc in the woodland. Each tree we plant should be seen as part of a natural woodland.

Before visiting this woodland, please read our Frequently Asked Questions page, which gives you helpful tips about your tree and visitor guidance.

Brownwich Farm is starting 2023 by planting hundreds of trees, as well as hedgerows and wildlife corridors, across a 1 acre site to support the local dormice population.

There are mature trees surrounding the field including oaks, hazel, common alder, birch, beech and ash - which are already an established habitat for dormice.

The planting area consists of a wide variety of native, British trees species which helps improve local biodiversity.

The new trees will create wildlife habitats and corridors, as well as providing food and nectar sources for birds and other animals.
