Tree Planting in Lancashire at Birchinley Manor
Birchinley Manor, on the outskirts of Rochdale, is a private estate located around a Grade II listed 17th century Manor house and converted barns, with seven new build properties. A popular, public right of way runs through the site from Wildhouse Lane, past the tree planting area and into the open countryside.
IMPORTANT VISITOR INFO – Take only photos. Leave only footsteps.
To keep the woodland as natural as possible we don’t label individual trees and we ask that visitors do not place their own plaques, labels, flowers, etc in the woodland. Each tree we plant should be seen as part of a natural woodland.
Before visiting this woodland, please read our Frequently Asked Questions page, which gives you helpful tips about your tree and visitor guidance.
Birchinley Manor has been planted with a variety of native tree species close to the footpath. Informal, mown grass paths from the public right of way meander through the trees.
Wild flowers seeds have been sown and bulbs planted in the remaining grassland to promote biodiversity.
A new hedge or Hazel trees has been planted around the border of the main planting area too.
The newly planted saplings will improve the biodiversity of the area and provide new sources of food and shelters for local wildlife.
