Tree Planting in Central Scotland at Buckhaven Community Woodland

Buckhaven Community Woodland is located on the eastern coast of Scotland, overlooking the Firth of Forth towards Edinburgh.

IMPORTANT VISITOR INFOTake only photos. Leave only footsteps.

To keep the woodland as natural as possible we don’t label individual trees and we ask that visitors do not place their own plaques, labels, flowers, etc in the woodland. Each tree we plant should be seen as part of a natural woodland.

Before visiting this woodland, please read our Frequently Asked Questions page, which gives you helpful tips about your tree and visitor guidance.

The woodland has been created by local residents who are members of CLEAR (Community-Led Environmental Action for Regeneration). CLEAR Buckhaven is a recently formed voluntary association comprising residents interesting in improving their surroundings and the quality of the local environment.

Although individual members have carried out some kind of environmental actions individually, the group came together only in July 2007.

Buckhaven is one of the most deprived areas (according to the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation).

Despite its great location, the urban environment has not received the investment which has been channelled into other towns across Fife.

CLEAR wants to work with others to address that gap.

They are engaged in regular planting of spring bulbs, shrubs and trees in public areas around Buckhaven.

CLEAR Volunteers have planted approximately 10,000 crocus bulbs, 10,000 daffodil bulbs and 3,000 bluebells along road verges around Buckhaven.

They have also planted approximately 850 native trees and 175 fruit trees and bushes to launch Buckhaven Community Woodland on Ness Braes and Shore.
